Middle School Moment
Middle School students at BCA re encouraged daily in their walk as Christians. Teachers strive to cultivate the attitudes and actions that Christ would approve in each student. This is done through study of God’s Word and a lot of prayer! Students in Middle School lead worship in chapel and perform leadership roles with the younger students.
Both Middle School and elementary students participate in ACSI events like Regional Math Olympics and Spelling Bee. BCA has had top placement in these regional events for the past 4 years. Many of our BCA graduates receive the Presidential Excellence Award given for 85% or higher SAT test scores and 90% or higher grades. We credit our excellence to our teachers and the BCA Christian curriculum.
Our 7th and 8th grades takes a trip to Washington DC every other year. Also services and missions is our focus every year. Helping at area food banks, at homeless ministries and with other national and international ministries is currently where we spend our time. Service to people and to God in this way is a spiritual discipline that our students need to become productive Christians in our ever changing world.
The academic program has our students switching classes daily. Each teacher has one main academic class in addition to teaching their homeroom Bible, English and Science. Our teachers present our curriculum with a Biblical worldview focus. Our current curriculum is Christian based, but that doesn't mean our students always see that. Adding specific Biblical instruction in every area helps our students make the connections between what they are learning and God's Word.
Students also attend gym 2 days a week, art, computer and library and Spanish. Choir and Yearbook are other electives students may choose in each years.
Our Middle School Program has a fall retreat where students learn to work together and also grow closer to God through spiritual activities. Throughout the school year students engage with God through Middle School praise and worship time several times a week and Bible class. Growing close to God through worship, praise and prayer is one of the hallmarks of our Middle School Bible program.
After school sports is another area where students can become involved. Boys and girls basketball, girls volleyball and cross country are the activities we currently offer.
Middle School students are at a challenging and important stage of development . Students are trying to define who they are and what they are going to be as adults. Our program guides them to God and how He can help them with the choices they are making. We encourage our students to search the Bible, pray and ask their parents or other adults for help when they are struggling with concerns in their lives.
Our Middle School Program tries to balance high academics, deep spiritual development and many creative and athletic outlets so that each child has the ability to become who God has gifted them to be. Most students return to visit us after they graduate because of the deep relationships they have cultivated at BCA.
